Kenny Omega signs a new deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling

If you are one of the people hoping to see Kenny Omega sign with WWE, then you will have to wait at least one more year. Trust me, there is interest in WWE but he is not going there anytime soon.

As first reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega has signed a new deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The deal was signed on Tuesday and it goes through January 31, 2019. That should put to rest any rumors about a potential appearance at the Royal Rumble this year and in 2019. Another sign that NJPW knew that Omega was staying was that he was put over in his match with Chris Jericho. If they felt he was leaving then he would have probably lost since Jericho is going to stick around for at least one more match with Tetsuya Naito.

Omega will be part of the “ALL IN” 9/1 show that is being self-financed by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks so it would have made it difficult for him to sign with WWE even if he wanted to go there. By all accounts, management is happy with the buzz surrounding Wrestle Kingdom 12 and the show was considered a success in terms of NJPW World buys and ticket sales. A large part of that success should be attributed to Omega and Jericho.
