Kevin Nash Defends Triple H’s Role In John Cena’s WWE Raw Segment

Kevin Nash shared his thoughts on the recent John Cena-focused episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, calling the show “fantastic” during the Kliq This podcast. The show featured John Cena saying his farewell to the Raw brand and capturing the Intercontinental Championship for the first time. “I thought this week’s raw show was fucking fantastic,” Nash said.

“Yeah, it was, and it was the John Cena show, and it should have been the John Cena show, and honestly, as long as they gave him his time, anything else they put on, there was gravy,” Nash stated. He also took time to defend WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who opened the show with Cena and faced some online criticism for it. “Well, you could, there was a bunch of people that said shit like Joel, ‘Triple H, he’s such an egotistical person, he had to be out there and stay in’ [the segment]. I’m thinking, ‘Did anybody else watch this segment like he kind of had to be out there to make the match?…He went into the corner and didn’t make a movement and waited for his cue to kind of make things happen.’ Vince would have never been that subdued. So I’m thinking myself, like, ‘Do you just hate on people, just because?”

Nash also commented on Cena’s Intercontinental Championship win over Dominik Mysterio. “Dom’s got great heat. Dom has really done a good job. And the thing is, it wasn’t by any means, a five star match, but because both characters are over, both characters are charsmatic, and people give a shit, and there was a belt on the line”. He noted the significance of the win, stating, “Cena, getting the IC title… makes him a grand, grand, Grand Slam champion”.

Nash admitted he was surprised Cena hadn’t already won it. “I couldn’t believe that John had won an IC belt. So I googled it, and I pressed triple crown winners, and it came up. I’m just like, Fuck, he’s not on there”.

John Cena’s farewell tour will continue on the November 17 episode of WWE Raw from Madison Square Garden, which will mark his final appearance on the red brand. The “Last Time is Now” tournament will also continue with two first-round matches: GUNTHER vs. Je’Von Evans and Solo Sikoa vs. a mystery opponent. Also scheduled, Becky Lynch will defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Maxxine Dupri, and Nikki Bella will explain her attack on Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.
