Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are a week away from being free agents, and they marked it with a cartoon.
The pair released an animated short called “Daybreak” on social media on Wednesday, put together by the artist Jonathan Davenport. ItĀ features two unicorns representing Kingston and Woods breaking out of a circus, using their horns to get through a door before transforming into animated versions of themselves and heading off into post-WWE life.
The video does not name a destination.
The Big E moment
The third New Day member is in it. A unicorn with a broken horn nods to the other two and lets them know it is alright to leave without him.
Big E has not wrestled since suffering a broken neck in 2022 and remains with WWE in a broadcasting role.
Where things stand
Kingston and Woods’ releases were first reported on May 2. Both chose to leave after being asked to restructure their contracts at a pay cut. Their 90-day clauses expire around the first week of August, at which point they are free to sign elsewhere.
AEW is the widely expected landing spot, though neither man has said so and nothing in the video confirms it.
Woods on the time off
Neither has said much publicly since their initial statements in May. Woods, who wrestles under his own name Austin Creed outside WWE, gave an update to Giant Bomb on July 21 in a piece he collaborated on with AEW’s Kenny Omega, ranking their favourite video games of 2025.
“Taking a full a*** break for the first time in 22 years. It’s been great getting to relax.”
“It’s summer, kids are out of school, have been going on hella vacations, and are enjoying just existing and sleeping well.”
New Day are among the most decorated tag teams in WWE history. If the pair do sign with AEW, they arrive in a division where Adam Copeland and Christian Cage hold the tag team championship and defend against The Young Bucks at All In on August 30.
