AJ Lee: ‘I Get To Admire How Well’ CM Punk Is ‘Doing And How Respected He Is And How Much Fun He’s Having’

AJ Lee says having her husband, CM Punk, by her side on the road has made her return to WWE a different experience than the first time around.

Speaking with US Weekly ahead of WrestleMania 42, Lee reflected on what it has been like to travel with Punk as a married couple, noting the two were not yet married during her previous run.

“It’s interesting because we weren’t married the last time. It’s just bizarre. I was wrestling for maybe a year during the marriage. So this is the first time on the road as a married couple. It is so nice to be able to bring home with you. It’s all very calm. I can always find him at catering or see him in the halls. That’s very, very comforting to me,” Lee said.

“A wonderful thing is to be able to admire your spouse. I get to admire how well he’s doing and how respected he is and how much fun he’s having. That’s a blast,” Lee added.

Lee returned to WWE in September 2025 after a decade away, with her first match back being a mixed tag bout alongside Punk. She has since entered a feud with Becky Lynch over the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Both Lee and Punk enter WrestleMania 42 as champions. Lee defends the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lynch on night one on April 18. Punk defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns in the night two main event.
