Lita Talks Not Being Able To ‘Enjoy’ Early WWE Success

Former WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer Lita recently appeared on Busted Open Radio alongside Gail Kim and Christy Hemme. The trio appeared on the SiriusXM show to promote their new Kickstarter backed ‘Kayfabe’ venture.

Lita In WWE

During the show Lita would talk about her time in WWE, specifically how she felt that she could not ‘enjoy’ the success that she was attaining. “When I was there [WWE], I was trying to chase that initial high. Because…I was so young too, you know” Lita began.

Sable and Chyna

Lita elaborated further, saying “Sable had just had a bunch of success and was no longer there. Chyna, they were very worried about her meteoric success. And so as I was gaining steam so fast, just from the fans. I felt very…like I would come through the curtain and I would feel stoked; and immediately I was reminded, this isn’t you. This is the ‘machine,’ one wrong move and we’ll…you know.”

WWE Becoming ‘Conditioned’

The former Team Xtreme member would finish by discussing how WWE had become ‘conditioned’ to not allowing female talents build up too much of a name for themselves. “They had learned, or were they were conditioned from Sable and Chyna. That they’re like ‘okay we can’t let this person think they’re bigger than the business.’ I’m like, but this was where I was trying to get to [WWE].'”

“And so I did really feel that I couldn’t enjoy my success. Because, and I couldn’t feel like when people are like ‘wow that was a really great match.’ I never felt like I was able to say ‘thank you.’ I felt like I went ‘well yeah you know the ref was really great. He gave us all our cues’ and you know ‘our agent you like really put it together really great’ and then ‘the storyline was built well.’ I felt like I had to just include everyone to be like ‘no, don’t worry. I know I was just one miniscule cog in what made that segment.'”
