Behind-the-scenes footage from a 1995 WWF tour that has gone unreleased for three decades is scheduled to come out this month.
Joe Dombrowski, the MLW and JCW commentator who runs Pro Wrestling Library, announced the release on X.
“It’s the story that’s waited over 30 years to finally be told,” Dombrowski wrote. “Next week, the trailer finally drops. Later this month, you all get to find this lost footage.”

The teaser on his X tweet matches the camcorder footage Darryl Peterson shot during his final WWF tour in 1995. Peterson wrestled in the WWF as Man Mountain Rock and in WCW as Maxx Payne.
Peterson said in a December interview on Wrestling Epicenter with James Walsh that he had turned the film over to someone else to release. He did not name that person.
“Somebody else is going to take care of getting the movie out. So, I can’t give you definitive dates because I don’t know yet. But I will tell you this. I do know for a fact that it will be out within the next six months to a year,” Peterson said.
He ended the interview with this: “If it took 30 years for this story to be told and for that part of my life to come to manifestation, well then, so be it.”
Peterson said the film is called “The Thing That Should Not Be.”
“The thing that should not be was me,” he said.
An original trailer for the film was posted online in 2008 and can still be watched below. The film was not released at the time, and no reason was given publicly.
Peterson says Vince McMahon approved the filming
Peterson said he already knew he was finished with the WWF when he went on the tour.
“They let me go on this last tour and I asked Vince before I left, can I take a video camera with me? And he said yes,” Peterson said.
He said road agent Tony Garea told him to turn the camera off as soon as he started filming. Peterson told Garea that McMahon had approved it. Garea went to call McMahon, came back and said McMahon had said OK. Peterson said he filmed for two weeks.
He said he made the film to show McMahon that the Man Mountain Rock character could work.
“I wanted Vince to see that he was letting, in my opinion, tremendous potential go,” Peterson said.
What Peterson says is on the tape
“The Kliq openly make fun of me on videotape,” Peterson said. He named Triple H, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.
Louie Spicolli, who wrestled in the WWF in 1995 as Rad Radford, also appears. “I was with him on the tour. He’s in the movie I made that’s going to be coming out shortly,” Peterson said. Spicolli died in February 1998 at age 27.
Peterson said he was working with Spicolli on the tour, which he called the Full Metal Tour in Europe, when Spicolli had to go to the hospital. He said Owen Hart accidentally sprayed cologne in Spicolli’s eyes, Spicolli had an allergic reaction and his eyes swelled shut.
A battle royal was planned to fill the time. Peterson said he offered to play guitar for 15 minutes so the wrestlers would not have to work it. Garea called McMahon, who approved it, and Peterson said he played for the crowd on the last five nights of the tour. He had a member of the ring crew record it.
“Every night they would go nuts,” Peterson said of the crowds.
The soundtrack is made up of songs Peterson wrote and recorded in Atlanta while he was in WCW, with “Road Dogg” Brian James as the lead singer.
“I wrote the soundtrack before I shot the movie,” Peterson said.
Peterson debuted as Man Mountain Rock on WWF television in February 1995 and was released that October.
Dombrowski said the trailer will be out next week and the footage later this month. Pro Wrestling Library sells classic wrestling footage on DVD and video on demand at ProWrestlingLibrary.com.
