Matt Hardy Believes Recent SmackDown TLC Match Was WrestleMania-Worthy

As one half of the team that pioneered the TLC match, Matt Hardy offered his expert analysis of the recent critically acclaimed SmackDown TLC match featuring Street Profits vs. DIY vs. Motor City Machine Guns on his “Extreme Life” podcast. Having watched it for the first time, Hardy was highly impressed.

“It was good. I thought it was really strong, psychologically done well. I’m a fan,” Hardy stated. “I thought it had a ton of great action… I see why it received so much praise. It was a very good match. They did well… It was exciting… had moments where it teased [finishes] or some good false finishes. It had so much athleticism… their style of wrestling too… dives and more high impact stuff. Everybody took some big bombs and it was creative, man. I thought it was all done very well.”

He felt all competitors benefited: “I think they did a great job making all the performers… all the teams stood out. They all had their moments. Being in a match like that elevates all three teams.”

Hardy strongly believes the match deserved a grander stage. “Yeah, I would have been super cool with this match being on WrestleMania… I almost don’t know why you don’t pull the trigger on a match like this… If they had that exact same match on Wrestlemania, I think it elevates all three teams even more… it would definitely fit… would have been a great WrestleMania classic match, I think.”

He concluded by placing it among the best of its kind. “I think it does [hold up to past TLCs]. It’s great… it’s in the conversation of just a fantastic, extremely memorable TLC match… I saw Bubba was putting it over… I know if Bubba [was] putting it over… it was solid… I think him and I view stuff with a lot of the same mindset.”
