Matt Hardy’s WWE contract is set to expire tonight at Midnight and he will give fans an update on his status.
As previously noted, WWE wants to keep him from going elsewhere and there’s been talk that he’s been offered a spot in the NXT system. Hardy and WWE have not been far off on money but his issues have more to do with the creative direction of his character.
Last night during the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum, Tony Khan did not want to discuss Hardy, likely because Hardy is still under WWE contract and any mention of him possibly working for AEW could raise the issue of contract tampering.
Hardy will be free to negotiate with any wrestling company as of midnight tonight. Although anything is possible and it’s certainly not out of the question that he could sign a new deal with WWE, all signs seem to point to him leaving and going elsewhere. Hardy’s name has been heavily rumored when fans have speculated about who is the exalted one in The Dark Order.
