Matt Riddle reportedly signs 3-year deal with WWE

It’s amazing how things have changed in just a few months. 6 months ago WWE was not even considering signing Matt Riddle because of his marijuana use that led to his release from UFC.

Now, it looks like Riddle will be in WWE for several years and he has the potential to be a major star. As reported by the Wrestling Observer, Riddle has signed a 3 year deal with the company.

Dave Meltzer confirmed the news on Twitter on Wednesday and the news was expected for some time, especially after Riddle began pulling out of independent dates.

Riddle has quickly become a top prospect on the independent wrestling scene because he has turned into a good wrestler in such a short period of time. He made his pro wrestling debut in 2015 and later received a WWE tryout but they ultimately passed on him.

However, things changed in 2018. New Japan Pro Wrestling was also said to be interested but he passed on their offer in favor of WWE. Riddle will likely start in NXT and stay there for a year or so before moving up to the main roster.
