We’re now getting an idea for what WWE has planned for their Evolution pay-per-view (PPV) in October.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reports that all of the women on WWE’s main roster will be competing on the card. The majority of the female talent on NXT will also be featured. Meltzer speculated that a Battle Royal match of sorts could also take place, in the form of either a Royal Rumble or Tag Team Battle Royal.
Meltzer also noted that the timing of the PPV probably isn’t a coincidence. Many of you already know the backlash WWE took for not featuring any female matches on the Greatest Royal Rumble card this past April. Due to the culture in Saudi Arabia there were no female talents featured on the card. WWE was hit really hard for this considering their push of the Women’s Revolution for the past few years.
WWE is due for a return to Saudi Arabia in November, so having Evolution take place shortly beforehand likely isn’t a sheer matter of coincidence. Evolution will also be going up against some stiff competition on TV. The MLB Playoffs and Sunday Night Football will be airing at the same time as the WWE’s first ever all-female PPV.
