As noted earlier, WWE announced today that Bray Wyatt has been released.
The news of his release comes as a shock since he was advertised for a live event in August and it was believed that he would be returning to WWE TV soon.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that Wyatt was told by John Laurinaitis that he was released due to budget cuts and was preparing to return in August. Meltzer added that Wyatt was “booked on some shows” in August.
Presumably, he would have a 90-day non-compete so he wouldn’t be able to show up on another wrestling show until the end of October.
Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, has many friends in the wrestling business including AEW so he could show up anywhere in 90 days.
