Nick Khan has publicly disclosed the scope of WWE’s legends program for the first time, revealing that the company currently has more than 100 active deals with retired wrestlers.
Khan made the disclosure during a Senate committee hearing on April 22 regarding the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, at which he appeared in his dual capacity as WWE President and Zuffa Boxing executive. While discussing the company’s financial structure, Khan outlined how WWE compensates its retired talent on an ongoing basis.
“So WWE, for example, has over 100 deals with what we call our legends, our retired wrestlers. So they receive compensation from us for years after their retirement from the ring, because of their participation in our video games, trading card deals, merchandise deals, and action figures, and all of these other ancillary revenues,” Khan said.
Khan also addressed WWE’s relationship with Make-A-Wish at the same hearing and was asked about the company’s intentions regarding a potential future WrestleMania at the soon-to-be-built domed stadium in Cleveland, following the success of the 2024 SummerSlam premium live event in the city.
