PHOTOS: The first ‘205 Live’ live event was awesome and it was a success for WWE

WWE ran their first 205 non-televised show on Saturday night in Lowell, MA. The show was headlined by Bray Wyatt vs. “Woken” Matt Hardy. That match was added because ticket sales were slow. That is likely why the show in Rhode Island, that was originally scheduled for Friday, was canceled.

The show on Saturday night, according to one fan estimate, drew somewhere between 1000-1200 people which should be considered a success by WWE. The idea with these shows is to give fans really good kick ass wrestling matches like they did during the Cruiserweight Classic. I hope they decided to tape shows from one of these venues because the crowds are hotter when you have a large amount of hardcore fans in attendance. People on social media commented on how hot the crowd was and it had the vibe of a hot independent show and it felt different than the 205 Live show that airs on the WWE Network.

205 Live will run again on Sunday and there are plans to run a few shows in February. The shows for next month will depend on whether these first two shows were considered a success or worth building on.
