Hours after a commercial advertised a Pitch Black for next month’s WWE Royal Rumble match, the company has officially announced the first-ever bout.
In November, WrestlingNews.co exclusively reported there had been a Pitch Black match pitched for the show, and it was being seriously considered for the show, with one source in the company believing that it was for Bray Wyatt.
On Monday morning, WWE aired the commercial on YouTube featuring footage showing the arena going dark before a signature said “When It’s The Pitch Black Match” and later touted it as “Anything Can Happen.”
The video also featured a man walking with a bright light shining behind him, seemingly Edge. WWE has discussed doing a Hell in a Cell match between “Demon” Finn Balor and “Brood” Edge.
