During a recent appearance on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE Superstar CM Punk shared a bizarre and painful detail from his World Heavyweight Championship match against Bron Breakker on Monday Night Raw. Fans noticed Punk’s wrestling boot dragging behind him towards the end of the bout, and Punk confirmed that the impact of Breakker’s offense literally knocked him out of his footwear.
“I had a split second where… I felt something odd going on, and I looked down and I just saw my foot twisted in the wrong way,” Punk explained to host Sam Roberts. “I was like, ‘I’ve broken my ankle. My foot’s dangling off.’ And then I was like, ‘Oh no, wait, there’s my foot.'”
Punk clarified that the boot wasn’t torn or untied, but rather the sheer force of a hit from Breakker dislodged it completely. “My boot just came off, still tied, the laces were still tight… that son of a bitch hit so hard,” Punk said. He noted that the only thing keeping the boot attached to his leg was the loop on his kickpad.
Despite appearing fresh for the interview, Punk admitted he was feeling the physical toll of the encounter. “My nose is black and blue. I got stuff going on that you can’t see because the magician [makeup artist],” he revealed. Click below to listen to the entire interview.
