It looks like Randy Orton is officially a heel. If it wasn’t clear at Extreme Rules when Orton attacked Jeff Hardy, it became crystal clear this week at the end of Smackdown Live.
Hardy got his United States Championship rematch against Shinsuke Nakamura and it looked like he was about to win the match but Orton pulled Hardy out of the ring. Orton viciously attacked Hardy at ringside by using the steel steps on him.
Orton continued his attack on the announce table and at one point he yanked on the hole in Hardy’s ear and threatened to yank it off…literally.
This was a throwback to how Orton used to be years ago. Nakamura watched everything, seemingly in shock, at ringside. At this point, it’s looking like this is all leading to a match at SummerSlam, perhaps, with Nakamura involved. We figured that Hardy might be taking time off to heal up nagging injuries but it doesn’t look like that is the case.
This #USTitle match has ended in a disqualification…because of @RandyOrton! #SDLive pic.twitter.com/j4ruXaEFXl
