Released Superstar Books First Post-WWE Indie Appearance

Andre Chase has been booked for his first post-WWE independent appearance, with Atomic Legacy Wrestling announcing him for the company’s Star Spangled Slammer X event on Saturday, July 4.

Chase is featured on the Star Spangled Slammer X promotional material with the “formerly known as Andre Chase” framing. This puts Chase’s first post-WWE indie appearance roughly two and a half months after his April release from WWE. It should be noted that NXT talent are under 30-day non-competes while main roster talent have to wait 90-days.

Whether Chase will return to the Harlem Bravado name he used in his pre-WWE indie circuit run has not been publicly confirmed.

Across his pre-WWE career, Harlem Bravado was a former Open the United Gate Champion in Dragon Gate USA (with Lance Bravado), a former FIP Tag Team Champion, and a regular fixture across ROH, Pro Wrestling Noah, Evolve Wrestling, Chikara, and TNA in his 2016 Total Nonstop Deletion appearance. Lance Bravado retired from wrestling in 2017, leaving Chase to work as a singles wrestler on the indie circuit primarily for Evolve until his WWE signing in 2021.

Chase’s WWE run featured an NXT tenure built around the Chase University faction, with Chase as the heel-turned-face teacher figure and Thea Hail and Duke Hudson as his central recruits. He was a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion across his run. The Chase University concept was one of the most-merchandise-friendly NXT acts of the 2022-2024 stretch.

Chase was released from WWE in April 2026 as part of the wave of post-WrestleMania 42 cuts that hit the company’s main roster and developmental tier. The release was unexpected given Chase’s continuing visibility on NXT TV and his merchandise success. Other notable departures from the same wave included Aleister Black, the Motor City Machine Guns, the Wyatt Sicks, Jeff Cobb, Tonga Loa, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods.
