Released WWE Star Reveals New Ring Name While Training With AEW Wrestler

Zoey Stark has revealed her post-WWE ring name, the date of her in-ring return, and her new training partnership, posting a montage video on Sunday that reframes her release as the start of a new chapter under the name Zoey Serrano.

The video confirms the new name as Zoey Serrano, with the nickname “The Purist.” Stark’s real surname is Serrano, and she wrestled on the independent circuit as Serrano from 2019 through her WWE signing in January 2021.

The video also revealed a July 24, 2026 date, which lines up with the end of her 90-day non-compete clause from her April 24 WWE release. Stark was part of WWE’s wave of post-WrestleMania 42 cuts alongside Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, and all members of Wyatt Sicks.

The training footage shows Serrano working with Brian Cage of AEW. Cage has been an active training partner for released WWE wrestlers and indie talents in recent years, with the Cage gym work positioned as part of how Serrano is rebuilding for her return. The montage also includes Serrano performing the same springboard missile dropkick that caused her knee injury at WWE on the May 19, 2025 episode of Monday Night Raw in a triple threat Money in the Bank qualifying match against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane. She landed awkwardly and tore her ACL on the move, and was sidelined for the full year leading up to her release.

The video closes with the new name and the July 24 date stitched together, setting up Serrano as both physically ready and contractually clear by late summer.

Serrano is a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Iyo Sky, holding the title from July through Halloween Havoc 2021, when Toxic Attraction won it in a Scareway to Hell ladder match. She moved to the main roster in 2023 and was a long-running Pure Fusion Collective member alongside Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville, and Nia Jax on Raw.
