REPORT: Adam Cole still under contract until Friday, WWE expected to make an offer

There has been a lot of speculation among fans about what Adam Cole will do regarding his pro wrestling future.

It was first reported that Cole’s contract with WWE expires shortly after SummerSlam. At the time, an exact date wasn’t unknown. His original deal expired after the Great American Bash show, but he signed an extension to stay under contract through August.

Cole lost to Kyle O’Reilly this past Sunday at NXT TakeOver 36, which many thought was his final match in the promotion. As of this past weekend, it was reported he had not signed a new contract yet.

Fightful Select reported today that Cole’s current WWE contract is actually up on Friday, August 27th. The report stated that WWE is expected to make an offer to Cole sometime this week.

The former WWE NXT Champion did have a meeting with Vince McMahon back on August 6th at a SmackDown TV event and it reportedly went well with McMahon appearing to like Cole on a personal level. It was also said at the time there had been pitches for Cole on both Raw and SmackDown.

If Cole doesn’t sign a new deal with WWE then he’s likely headed to AEW.
