The Usos are set to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view but at least one member of the team is looking at options outside of WWE.
It’s no secret that The Usos WWE deal expires in April and there’s a lot of speculation that they will want to jump to All Elite Wrestling. However, a report from FOX News states that Jimmy Uso and Naomi are hoping to be fired before their deals are up.
FOX News cites a source closely connected WWE: “Uso and his wife want to get fired by the WWE, so this arrest just might be the shoe that drops.”
The story notes that a number of wrestlers in WWE are interested in All Elite Wrestling. It’s no secret that AEW has plans to put a heavy focus on tag team wrestling so The Usos would be a great fit there.
At this point, WWE is still advertising The Usos vs. The Miz and Shane McMahon for tomorrow’s pay-per-view so it looks like the match will take place as scheduled.
On the day of Jimmy’s arrest, WWE issued the following brief statement: “Jonathan Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions.”
It seems unlikely that Jimmy and Naomi will be fired. We don’t know when her contract expires but it looks like The Usos could be on their way out in April when their deals are up.
Losing The Usos and Dean Ambrose and having them show up at Double Or Nothing in May would be seen as a big blow to WWE as the company does not want it to look like their wrestlers are leaving because they are not happy.
