A majority of WWE talent are reportedly set to miss out on complimentary tickets to WrestleMania 42, with Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reporting that the company has told a large number of people that no comps will be distributed this year despite the show’s widely discussed ticket sales challenges.
The situation carries a layer of irony given that Pat McAfee appeared to publicly acknowledge the soft ticket sales situation during his SmackDown appearance, yet the company is simultaneously restricting access for its own roster. Alvarez wrote, “WWE still claiming at least to a lot of people that there are no comps this year, even though they’re making fun of their own low attendance on SmackDown,” Alvarez wrote.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp backed the report, adding further detail on just how strictly the policy is being enforced. According to Sapp, WWE is being very strict with talent on the subject, and some have been told they will only receive tickets very close to the show if they are approved at all, consistent with TKO’s policy over the past two years. Reports of talent unhappiness with the policy have since emerged.
The comp ticket issue has been a source of frustration in wrestling circles for some time. Earlier this year WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi publicly complained about no longer receiving access to complimentary tickets to WWE events despite holding a WWE Legends deal and having three sons currently active on the main roster.
WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
