There has been a ton of speculation in regards to a possible WWE return for former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio.
“The Master Of The 619” returned to WWE in January when he entered the 2018 Royal Rumble match at the 27th spot. He returned yet again in April as a participant in the 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble match, entering at number 28. Those were both one-off appearances, and Mysterio has been juggling appearances with other promotions, including New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), while attempting to negotiate a deal with WWE.
He recently was interviewed on The Roman Show at the annual Florida Supercon and was asked a few questions about a possible WWE return. One such topic was about possibly working with WWE fan-favorite Daniel Bryan. Mysterio hinted that he’s willing to come back for any dream match on either the SmackDown Live or Monday Night RAW brand.
Mysterio also noted that he’s keeping busy with all his upcoming appearances, including NJPW and the highly-anticipated “All In” event on September 1st:
“Anything can happen. I did two Royal Rumbles for WWE this year. If you happen to see me on a Raw or Smackdown and you want to see a certain match, then you already know. But if not, I am still going to be doing what I am doing out here in the wrestling independent scene.
“Next month I’m out in New Japan to do another show for NJPW, I’m doing the ‘All In’ event on September 1st that sold out in 29 minutes, so there’s a lot of good things coming [including] the Chris Jericho cruise in October and the Expo Lucha that’s on August 30th and 31st in Las Vegas.”
The match could certainly happen if Bryan signs a new deal with WWE (he hasn’t signed yet).
