Rhea Ripley says a fan obtained her personal phone number and texted her, the latest in a series of privacy concerns the WWE star has raised about fans crossing the line. Ripley discussed the incident during a Twitch livestream alongside Gabriel Aeros, known as King Kreas, and her husband, AEW’s Buddy Matthews.
Asked whether she ever gets scared, Ripley pointed to fans approaching her home and contacting her directly. “All the time, especially when people walk up to my f***ing house,” she said. “And then text me on my mobile phone.”
She said the most recent incident involved someone tracking down her number after failing to get tickets to SmackDown. “I won’t say how but someone found my phone number and they texted me the other day,” Ripley said. “[They] wanted me to see them because they couldn’t find tickets to SmackDown.”
Ripley summed up her frustration simply: “There’s no privacy anywhere.”
The comments add to a string of similar incidents Ripley has spoken about publicly. She has previously described fans showing up uninvited at the home she shares with Matthews, sending mail to her address, and lingering at her front door, and has repeatedly asked fans to respect the boundary between wrestlers and the public.
The remarks also come amid a broader conversation about talent safety in wrestling. WWE and its talent have dealt with multiple incidents involving fans overstepping boundaries, including a case in which a man who traveled to stalk Liv Morgan was recently found not guilty by reason of insanity, and concerns raised by several wrestlers about unwelcome encounters around this year’s WrestleMania.
