Rikishi has announced that he is departing KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy after years of involvement with the training school and promotion.
The WWE Hall of Famer shared the news on X, writing: “Love and respect KnokX Pro Entertainment and Academy. As I take my leave, I appreciate your understanding and respect for my decision to rest now.”
KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy is based in Southern California and has operated under the leadership of Reno Anoa’i, Rikishi’s cousin and a member of the Anoa’i wrestling family that has produced several pro wrestlers.
Rikishi’s association with KnokX Pro gave the academy significant name recognition. As a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, former Tag Team Champion, and inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015, his involvement lent the school a level of legitimacy that few independent academies can claim.
The incident drew widespread criticism from the wrestling world and led WWE to sever all ties with KnockX Pro, which had previously been part of the company’s ID affiliate program. Following the assault, Rikishi was reported to have enacted sweeping changes at the academy. Whether his 2026 exit is part of the continued aftermath of that situation remains unknown.
Love and respect KnokX Pro Entertainment & Academy. As I take my leave, I appreciate your understanding and respect for my decision to rest now. KnokX Pro Entertainment & Academy – @knokxpro
