The Rock has joined the wrestling world in paying tribute to Benjamin Satterley, known to wrestling fans as PAC, following his death at 40.
AEW announced Satterley’s passing on Sunday. An autopsy was performed Monday, but the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said the cause and manner of death remain pending additional testing, which could take several weeks.
On Tuesday, in a message shared on Instagram, the WWE Hall of Famer said the loss was felt across the entire industry, regardless of company. In the video, The Rock said he had crossed paths with Satterley a few times during his WWE career.
He also extended his condolences to Satterley’s family, Tony Khan, QT Marshall, the AEW locker room and WWE personnel.
“As global as professional wrestling is, as global as WWE is, as much as AEW is growing into this phenomenal wrestling company, and wherever you’re wrestling at around the world, we’re still a very tight knit unit and a tight knit group because we all share the same DNA,” The Rock said. “But when we lose one of our own, it hurts. And when they’re young and so insanely talented, it really f***ing hurts.”
His final match came on September 26 at AEW All Out, where he opened the pay-per-view against Andrade El Idolo. Our thoughts are with his family.
