Roman Reigns is booked from a creative standpoint as a top star, but also his win-loss record backs up the fact WWE protects “The Tribal Chief.”
According to Cagematch, including TV, PPV, and live events, he went 87-11 with an 87 win percentage in 2019 then in 2020, he went 29-2 and 2021, he had a record of 33-27. However, Reigns was protected strongly by WWE as at TV and PPV events in 2019, he went 26-11. In 2020, his record was 15-2 and in 2021, it was 19-0. At PPV events alone in 2021, he had a perfect 10-0 record.
At Saturday’s Royal Rumble, Reigns defended his title against Seth Rollins in the opening contest, but lost the match via DQ when he didn’t break the referee’s count while having Rollins in a guillotine choke as the fellow former Shield member had a hold of the rope.
Reigns’ last loss at a PPV event came when he was eliminated by Drew McIntyre in the 2020 Royal Rumble. His streak spanning over 700 days of not dropping a singles match loss at a PPV event came to an end at the Royal Rumble as his previous loss came in 2019 when he received the End of Days by Baron Corbin in a TLC match at the TLC pay-per-view event.
With WWE planning Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 for months and Lesnar winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match, it sets up this championship headliner.
