Roman Reigns Pulled From WWE Raw June Dates Due To “Clerical Error,” Not A Contract Issue

Roman Reigns being pulled from advertised WWE Raw dates in June was a “clerical error” on WWE’s side, not a sign of contract trouble or friction with the company.

The change had drawn questions because Reigns had been listed for the dates and was then quietly removed from the ads, raising speculation about a possible issue with the deal he signed in the run-up to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

PWInsider reported that the original advertising was the mistake. Reigns had been listed for those dates in error, and the issue was on the TKO and WWE side as to which dates he was actually scheduled to work. “It was a clerical error,” Mike Johnson wrote. The report ruled out any problem between Reigns and the company and any issue with his deal.

On Sunday, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer said the dates were pulled because Reigns is not scheduled to appear on Night of Champions, which takes place June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With Reigns off the PLE, there was “no reason to do the TV’s building that show,” Meltzer wrote. He added that if Reigns loses the World Heavyweight Championship to Jacob Fatu at Backlash, those plans could change.

The June absence runs counter to the public commitment Reigns made at the WrestleMania 42 post-show, when he addressed “part-timer” chants from the crowd and promised to be a regular presence on WWE programming through the summer. “All this part-time crap, we’re going to fix that. Y’all better make some room, because y’all gonna see my ass all summer,” Reigns said.

Reigns is currently the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and is scheduled to defend the title against Jacob Fatu at WWE Backlash this Saturday at Amalie Arena in Tampa. The show streams live on the ESPN app in the United States.
