Former WWE United States Champion Sami Zayn recently took to X to reflect on his celebrated championship run, which was defined by his weekly open challenges.
A Favorite Career Moment
Zayn won the WWE United States Championship on August 29, 2025 on SmackDown. He eventually lost the championship on the October 17, 2025 edition of SmackDown in a surprise match against the returning Ilja Dragunov. In his post, Zayn expressed immense pride in what he was able to accomplish with the title.
“Been reflecting on my run as US Champion,” Zayn wrote. “One of my favorite things I’ve done in WWE.”
Eight Weeks, Eight Bangers
Zayn’s reign was notable for his commitment to defending the title every week against a new and varied opponent. He summarized the run, writing, “8 weeks, 8 very different opponents, 8 bangers in a row.”
“Great” and “Memorable”
The former champion also shared his thoughts on the difficulty of creating a lasting impact in the modern entertainment landscape, stating his belief that his title run achieved that goal.
“It’s hard to do something great,” Zayn wrote. “In the age of content, it’s even harder to do something memorable. It felt like this was both.”
