Samoa Joe opens up on the bodily sacrifices of pro wrestling

Professional wrestling is a grueling business to be in, and WWE star Samoa Joe knows that.

Recently appearing on the Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast, Joe discussed the toll that the profession takes on one’s body. Joe offered a refreshingly honest response.

He said he knows what he signed up for when he embarked on his professional wrestling journey, and said there’s a good chance he’ll be in a wheelchair when he’s 60-years-old:

“We sacrifice ourselves every day when we go in that ring, and I know it proudly. I know what I signed up for and I do not shy away from that fact at all. There’s a good chance I will be in a wheelchair when I’m 60, and you know, hey, I signed up for that. I know that.”

Joe is currently on a roll in his WWE tenure. He will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Title at the upcoming Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Joe and Styles have been feuding for the past several weeks in a deeply personal storyline. You can listen to “The Destroyer’s” full conversation with Sam Roberts by clicking below.
