Santos Escobar Teases His Next Move: ‘Let’s See What Destiny Has For Us’

Santos Escobar is publicly counting down to his return to the open market. The former WWE star marked the final stretch of his non-compete period with a short message hinting at a decision about his future.

“At the end of these 10 days, let’s see what destiny has for us,” Escobar wrote on social media.

WWE released Escobar on April 24 as part of its post-WrestleMania roster cuts, a group that also included Kairi Sane, Aleister Black and the Motor City Machine Guns. Like others let go at that time, he has been serving a 90-day non-compete clause, which is set to lapse later this month and clear him to sign with another promotion.

Escobar never wrestled on WWE main-roster television after re-signing with the company in October 2025, and he was used primarily in AAA. He underwent surgery for a torn triceps earlier this year and was released while recovering.

As for where he lands, Fightful Select reported that conversations between Escobar and CMLL, Mexico’s top promotion, are expected to resume now that he is on his way out of WWE. CMLL had been expected to sign him before he re-upped with WWE, a route that could also have led to AEW appearances.

For now, Escobar is not saying where he is headed, only that the wait is nearly up.
