Scarlett Bordeaux says she never got a singles match on WWE television across either of her runs with the company, and that her schedule since leaving has turned out to be just as heavy as it was inside it.
Bordeaux was a guest on the Nikki and Brie Show, where Brie Bella hosted solo. Asked about her work since the WWE exit, Bordeaux said the appeal of the independents is getting to do the thing she was never given a chance to do.
“I never got to have a proper singles match on television in WWE,” she said. “In NXT, never got to wrestle. I loved what I was doing in NXT. I had a lot of fun. But on main roster, all of my singles matches were on house shows, so they never aired.”
She said her on-screen work was built around being at ringside.
“I had mixed tags and little spots here and there where we’d be doing stuff on the outside. But I never got to have a singles program,” Bordeaux said. “So the freedom that I get on the indies is just so much fun. The first match I had back, it was like 20 minutes.”
Bordeaux said the untelevised shows were the one place in WWE where wrestlers were left alone to work.
“Even at the live events at WWE, it’s the only time you got to play, where the producers were just like, all right, this is the ending, go do what you want,” she said. “You get to play and experiment, get to know each other.”
The travel has not eased off since. Bordeaux said she expected the schedule to lighten and it did not.
“Busy. I thought I wouldn’t be traveling as much as I am now, but it’s been basically the same as WWE,” she said. “I counted, it’s been about 100 flights last year.”
She said the pace has forced her and her husband to build in rest.
“It’s to the point where we’ve had to actively slow ourselves down, to not get sick and to rest up,” Bordeaux said.
She then laid out October as an example. The first three weekends are booked with conventions, she has three matches, and there is a show in New York at the end of the month.
“We go to Iceland, then we go to Romania, where I’m defending my championship, and then we stop in Singapore for a day, and then we go to Auckland, New Zealand, to wrestle, and then four cities after that in Australia, back to back, day after day after day,” she said. “So I counted 73 hours of flying in like two weeks.”
The Romania date is a defence of the RPW Queen of the Castle Championship, the Romanian Pro Wrestling women’s title she won from Amale in a street fight at Spring Slam on March 1, in what the promotion billed as its first women’s main event. Bordeaux, whose family is Romanian, called it part of her roots at the time.
On how the bookings get made, Bordeaux said she and her husband have long-standing contacts and still field incoming offers, but that they filter by where the belts are.
“Right now, with how much we have combined with conventions, we try to prioritize the places that I have a belt, Kevin has a belt, and all of our favorite spots, basically,” she said. Kevin is Kross, who works the independents as Killer Kross and holds the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. Bordeaux said MLW is the next major date on their calendar, on September 12.
Bordeaux worked in WWE alongside her husband, then known as Karrion Kross. The pair debuted in NXT in 2020, were released in November 2021, returned in August 2022 and left on August 10, 2025 when their contracts expired without new deals. She was used almost entirely as a valet and manager for Kross across the second run, which is the gap between the two halves of what she described on the show. The televised version of her was at ringside. The version that wrestles has been on the independents the whole time.
She has been working them since December 2009, with stops in Japan, Mexico, TNA, Ring of Honor, CZW and AAA before WWE, and said the years of doing it are why the current schedule is manageable at all.
