Sean Waltman told WWE he’d be ready if they wanted him for the Royal Rumble

In late December, WWE Hall Of Famer Sean Waltman announced that he had been medically cleared to make a return to in-ring action after undergoing knee surgery by Dr. Chung at the UCLA Medical Center.

While he was recovering from the surgery, Waltman made it known that he was interested in wrestling again. WWE did bring in former stars to be surprises in the Royal Rumble match.

Some fans were hoping to see Waltman make a return, but that didn’t happen. Waltman said in an interview with Sports Illustrated that he told WWE in advance that if they wanted to use him then he would be interested.

“As far as the Royal Rumble, I gave them a heads up I’d be ready if they wanted me,” Waltman says. “I wasn’t actively campaigning for it. I wasn’t going to do that. But I let them know, and I guess they weren’t interested.”

Waltman made a surprise appearance two weeks ago during Game Changer Wrestling’s The WRLD on GCW show. Now, Waltman is scheduled to team with Joey Janela against Matt Cardona and Brian Myers at GCW: Heartbreak on February 25 in Los Angeles.
