Seth Rollins: ‘Once We’re Both Away From’ Wrestling, ‘There Might Be An Opportunity’ For Reconciliation With CM Punk

It’s no secret that Seth Rollins and CM Punk have had a contentious relationship for years, going back to when Punk left WWE in 2014 and took shots at the company, which didn’t sit well with Rollins. Their relationship and history have been spoken about and played out on television ever since Punk returned to WWE in 2023. The two have wrestled multiple times since Punk’s return, most recently in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 in a triple threat match also involving Roman Reigns.

Speaking to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Rollins was asked if things were good between him and Punk now. Rollins made it clear that while they can work together professionally, personal wounds from a decade ago still linger.

“No. I wouldn’t say so. There is obviously some sort of working relationship. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to go out there and have matches, but it is so complex. Maybe, once we’re both away from the business or retired, there might be an opportunity for a reconciliation there. It’s just so hard for me to separate the CM Punk that there is now from the CM Punk that was a really rotten friend to me ten years ago. Those wounds take time to heal,” Rollins said.

The former champion noted that neither man currently has the time to focus on mending their personal bond, given their current roles in the industry. Rollins is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, a torn rotator cuff suffered in October 2025, that required surgery and forced him to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

“Whether or not he cares to make the effort to do that, and I care to care if he makes the effort to do that, I don’t know. Neither of us have the time for it at the moment,” Rollins added.

Punk won the vacant World Heavyweight Title while Rollins was sidelined and is currently preparing for a title defense against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber and then Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. Rollins is reportedly making progress in his recovery and is hopeful to be back in time for the Las Vegas event in April. His expected match against Bron Breakker at WrestleMania is now in jeopardy due to Breakker’s own hernia surgery, which has sidelined him for an estimated 12 weeks to six months.
