Sheamus Set To Leave WWE After Nearly 19 Years

Sheamus is set to leave WWE, according to Fightful Select.

The report states that Sheamus’s WWE contract has expired and that he turned down a contract extension. He was not released. Per Fightful, WWE approached Sheamus about a restructured contract while he was out with an injury, and he quickly rejected it. Because his deal was already set to expire within months, there was no reason for a release, which would have carried the standard 90-day non-compete clause. Fightful does not have a specific expiration date but reports the departure is happening soon.

Sheamus spent almost 19 years with WWE after signing in 2007. He became the first Irish-born WWE Champion in 2009, defeating John Cena months into his main roster run, and went on to become a four-time world champion. He won the 2010 King of the Ring, the 2012 Royal Rumble, and the 2015 Money in the Bank contract, and held the United States Championship and tag team gold with Cesaro as The Bar along the way.

Sheamus, 48, has been out of action with an injury. Neither he nor WWE has commented on the report.
