Here are some WWE news and notes for the weekend:
Click here for the story reported by Bryan Alvarez regarding the dream match being discussed for SummerSlam.
It looks like Naomi's Smackdown Women's Championship got a makeover. At the live event on Saturday night, she showed off her title with LED lights to match her Glow attire. Check it out below:
Jim Ross posted a photo of himself, Kazuchika Okada, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Josh Barnett after Saturday night's G1 special. Austin lives in the area and this would likely have been the first time he's attended a New Japan Pro Wrestling show as a fan. I would recommend that show to everyone. You can click here to read results from the show and if you want to watch the replay, check your cable guide to see if AXS TV is showing it again or watch it on NJPWWorld.com.
A few hours before Saturday night's show, Roseanne Barr (yes, Roseanne) posted a clip of her and her son watching the NJPW marathon on AXS TV that led up to the live broadcast. Pretty cool.
This week's episode of Raw will be the go-home show for the Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view. As of right now, the matches announced are: Brock Lesnar defending the Universal Championship against Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman in an ambulance match, Alexa Bliss defends the Raw Women's Championship against Bayley, Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt, and Neville defends the Cruiserweight Championship against Akira Tozawa.
As we noted last week, Chris Jericho is on the WWE tour of Singapore and Japan. WWE.com interviewed Jericho to talk about his history with the country. He said that he had been going to Japan since he was 19 years old and it's like a second home to him. He said that he has an extra special connection with the fans and they appreciate good wrestling because the simplest moves can get a big reaction. It's not clear when he will be back on the road full-time but Fozzy will be touring again later this year. He said that these shows were his last hurrah for this recent run as he will return to working on Fozzy. Check out the interview below:
