Daria Berenato, widely known to wrestling fans as Sonya Deville, is returning to the world of mixed martial arts, but this time in a new capacity as an announcer. She is set to make her MMA commentary debut for Invicta FC 62 this Friday, May 16, 2025.
Speaking with Fightful, Berenato expressed that this move feels like a heartfelt homecoming. “As cliche as this sounds, it really feels like I’m coming back home,” Berenato shared. Although she had three amateur MMA fights before signing with WWE, her passion for the sport runs deep.
“I had been training since I was 15 or 16 years old, and that was the first dream. That was what I wanted to do. I wanted to fight MMA, and I wanted to act.” Reflecting on her decade-long journey in WWE, she views this new venture with Invicta FC as a significant and nostalgic step. “It was a great 10 years [in WWE], but it feels very nostalgic, very full circle, very close to my heart to be going back to where I started,” she said.
