On Friday afternoon, WWE taped tonight’s episode of SmackDown from Glasgow, Scotland.
At the taping, Randy Orton returned to television after being absent since King and Queen of the Ring when he suffered a loss to Gunther in the King of the Ring tournament finals. Triple H said that he would make the rematch happen in time due to the controversial finish and added that Orton needed to heal up after such a match. Here are the spoilers, courtesy of F4Wonline:
– Naomi (with Bayley) vs. Chelsea Green (with Piper Niven) kicked off the show for a segment. Chelsea cut a promo and said there would be two crushing defeats in Scotland. Naomi then beat Green in a match.
– Backstage, Baron Corbin thanked General Manager Nick Aldis for allowing him a fresh start on the show before Legado Del Fantasma called Corbin a “charity case.” Legado was fined for attacking Apollo Crews last week. Santos Escobar said he would face Apollo in a match.
– DIY were guests on The Grayson Waller Effect. DIY wanted a tag team title match, but Waller turned it down. Johnny Gargano brought up his history with Theory. Waller took a cheap shot at Gargano, and a fight broke out. DIY posed with the tag titles to end the segment.
– Backstage, Blair Davenport had words with Bayley and Naomi. After a distraction from Chelsea, Piper Niven attacked them from behind.
– The next match was Santos vs. Apollo, where Legado provided an early distraction, which led to Baron Corbin attacking them to even the odds. Legado later returned after the commercial break and attacked Corbin, leading to Elektra Lopez knocking Apollo off the top rope and helping Santos go over.
– Cody Rhodes came out for a promo segment with AJ Styles, who had the OC with him. Cody wanted Styles in the ring alone, and Styles obliged. TStyles talked about Cody quitting companies like WWE, NJPW, and ROH. Styles even brought up how Cody helped start a promotion (AEW) but quit that as well. Cody said Styles had to pretend to be Mark Henry to get a title rematch. Styles said he’ll do whatever it takes to make Cody quit at Clash at the Castle.
– The Street Profits were attacked backstage by The Bloodline.
– Tiffany Stratton was on commentary for Nia Jax vs. Michin. Tiffany threw water in Michin’s face, which led to Michin throwing Tiffany over the announce table, which led WWE to quickly take advantage and score the win.
– Backstage, Kevin Owens said he’ll fight Bloodline by himself.
– Footage was shown from Logan Paul’s Tetris tournament, and Paul arrived at his home in Puerto Rico only for LA Knight to be in his pool.
– Carmelo Hayes said in a promo that LA Knight wasn’t cooking but was rather medium-rare trash and vowed to become Melo in the Bank.
– Aldis said The Tongas were banned from ringside for Solo Sikoa vs. Owens, while Heyman warned that Solo would lose his leadership position if Solo lost. Solo said that if he lost, he’d be coming after Heyman.
– Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn were interviewed in the arena, where they vowed to make history at Clash as the Castle.
– Solo faced Owens in the main event. Owens hit a stunner, but Heyman put Solo’s foot on the bottom rope. Solo took advantage of Owens, going after Heyman and hitting Owens with two Samoan spikes. Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga attacked Owens before putting him through an announce table. Orton ran out to make the save. Orton hit Tonga Loa with an RKO before standing tall in the ring with Owens.
