For those of you that have asked about Dolph Ziggler’s status since news broke last week about his potential departure from the company, there isn’t a ton to report because Ziggler is not saying much to many people except the ones he is close to. Ziggler worked at the live events over the weekend but he was not at Monday Night Raw and was never scheduled to be there.
It’s possible that he could appear at the Royal Rumble on Sunday because he lives in Phoenix and has a comedy show scheduled after the Rumble.
There was still talk going around backstage at Raw on Monday that Ziggler would be finishing up with the company at the end of this month. There is some unhappiness in the locker room among wrestlers that feel underused and one thing that WWE will have to deal with when contracts come up is specific demands from talent about working lighter schedules. There are several wrestlers that are looking at AEW for leverage when their WWE contracts expire. AEW is going to offer good money with a better schedule and that is something WWE is going to have to consider if they want to keep some of their talent on board.
A WWE source told us that more information on Ziggler’s status will be known by this weekend but management definitely wants to keep him on board.
