Three Former Champions Become Free Agents

Three former champions are all officially free agents. In recent weeks, several names whose contracts were expected to expire on October 1. Among them were Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, who formerly teamed together and won AEW tag team gold as the Acclaimed.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that both men are effectively free agents. Though, AEW sources noted that they remain on the roster page, and there could still be a possibility of them remaining with the company. It was brought up by one source that they figured the tragic events of the last few weeks possibly caused a slowdown.

In addition, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has confirmed that former WWE Champion Sheamus is now effectively a free agent and is eligible to sign anywhere he wants. Sheamus last wrestled in November 2025 where he sustained an injury.

However, it is believed he’s able to return physically at this stage. Sheamus decided to part ways with WWE earlier this year amid modified contract offers and restructures. He is expected to be AEW-bound.
