After it was reported that WWE had released several NXT wrestlers on Friday night such as Bronson Reed, Bobby Fish, and more, details about the new direction for the brand started to come out.
That new direction is for NXT to no longer have smaller and older wrestlers. Instead, WWE is going back to having younger and taller wrestlers with the idea that they will become main eventers down the line.
Fans have been talking about the future of NXT and this new edict on social media with various topics trending. One trend was about how the feud between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa somehow ruined the brand.
For me personally NXT began to lose it's way when it got bogged down in those Gargano & Ciampa "epics" that were over the top melodramatic.
Someone should have done an intervention when those two started staring at their hands every damn match.

Ciampa and Gargano worked in NXT as a tag team, DIY, for years before they went on their singles runs. They then did a lengthy program in 2018 where they headlined TakeOver: New Orleans, TakeOver: Chicago II, TakeOver: Brooklyn 4. Ciampa and Gargano also worked a program in 2020.
