Top WWE NXT star could be moving up to the main roster soon

Bobby Roode could be on the main roster real soon, according to Dave Meltzer on Sunday morning’s Wrestling Observer Radio. The storyline on Saturday night was that Daniel Bryan and Kurt Angle were at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III because they were scouting for talent.

It’s no secret that WWE wants to bring in some fresh names up to the main roster. Shelton Benjamin has signed his deal to return and they are high on Roode so he should be up real soon. He still has a blow-off match scheduled with Roderick Strong at the next NXT tapings so we might need to wait a few weeks before we see him on Raw or Smackdown Live. Meltzer said that he thinks that Roode will be in the mix as one of the top 5 pushed guys on whichever brand he lands on. Roode is 40 years old and the time is ticking for him so now is the time to move him up on the main roster because of his age and because Adam Cole has signed and he can Roode’s spot as the top heel on the brand. Meltzer also noted that people in WWE want to move him up ASAP.

There are other names expected to move up from NXT soon. Ember Moon seems like a likely candidate to move up to Raw or Smackdown Live. However, do not expect to see Asuka move up anytime soon. Apparently, Triple H has asked Vince McMahon not to move her up right now (click here for more on that story).
