A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that while Drew McIntyre is currently on a contractual hiatus from WWE, it was his recent opponent, Damian Priest, who was working through significant injuries during their feud.
Many fans had assumed McIntyre was the one who was “banged up” leading into their Cage Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. However, the report clarifies that there was more concern within WWE for Priest’s condition, as he sustained and worked through several injuries during the program.
According to the report, WWE sources spoke very highly of Priest’s toughness. It was noted that continuing to work through the SummerSlam season was important to him, as the event is considered a “home game” for the New York native.
The company reportedly has significant creative plans for Priest at SummerSlam and intends to feature him in a prominent role on the show.
