WWE is continuing with its push to make NXT its own major standalone brand.
During last night’s broadcast, Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza made an appearance. They attacked Scrypts and Axiom after their win over Dabba Kato in a 2-vs-1 handicap match. They were back out later in the show to cut a promo to announce that they are back in NXT to be in the tag team division.
The move back to NXT appears to be happening as a way to get them back on TV since they haven’t been featured much on main roster TV shows in recent months.
Garza and Carrillo are just the latest main roster names to return to NXT. The names include Baron Corbin and Seth Rollins, among others. Nick Khan has said that NXT could become it’s own standalone major brand. The idea behind bringing in main roster talent is to give some names more TV time while in other cases (with Seth Rollins), it’s to help boost the ratings of the show.
