The Undertaker thinks Trick Williams may turn out to be the biggest star of the current group, and that he is one thing away from getting there.
Undertaker was asked on Insight with Chris Van Vliet whether, if he had been retiring this year instead of in 2020, his last match would have been against Gunther. He said it would have been a good choice, and then named two others.
“Yeah, I think. I mean, that would be a good one for sure. You know, I like the way he works, and I like the way he takes his time and builds to a crescendo in a match, but too, there’s guys like Oba out there now, and who may be one of the guys that I think may be the biggest star may be Trick Williams. I love Trick, and so all those guys I would have loved to have worked with.”
Asked what it is about Williams, he was specific.
“He just got that thing, right? He’s got that swagger, and I’ve talked to him a few times, and he’s just a little bit more of a mean streak away from being a real big player, I think.”
Williams held the United States Championship until Sunday, when Baron Corbin beat him for it on night two of SummerSlam. Oba Femi beat Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell on night one, after which Lesnar raised his hand and told the crowd Femi is the future. Gunther beat Nick Aldis on the same show, and in December he beat John Cena in Cena’s retirement match.
Undertaker retired after Survivor Series in November 2020 and gave no indication in the interview of any interest in changing that. He now works as head of creative for AAA.
