Jon Jones is the new Light Heavyweight Champion after knocking out Daniel Cormier with a nasty kick to the side of the head, followed by several uncontested punches on the ground. Jones was gracious during the post-fight interview and even thanked his long-time rival but then proceeded to call out the former UFC World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar.
The Jones-Lesnar rumors have picked up in recent weeks after Jones expressed interest in a super fight with Lesnar and Lesnar has also said that he would be interested in the fight. Jones exact words to Lesnar: “If you want to find out what it’s like to get your ass kicked by a guy who weighs 40 lbs less than you, meet me here.”

Lesnar is still suspended for his drug test failure from his UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt but if the rumors of him being in the USADA drug testing pool are true (note: UFC says they are not true) then he could fight at the end of the year but it’s more likely that he’ll fight sometime next year. Lesnar’s WWE deal expires at WrestleMania so he would have to get Vince McMahon’s blessing if he wants to fight before April. Since Lesnar has leverage during contract negotiations, I could see WWE allowing him to fight before Mania. We’ll see what happens.
All of the UFC talk has fueled rumors that Lesnar will be losing the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. He will be defending against Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe on that show.
UPDATE: Lesnar has already responded to Jones.
