A new update for WWE 2K25, Patch 1.09, began rolling out across all platforms starting April 29th, delivering targeted fixes and general improvements. According to the official patch notes released by 2K Support, the update primarily focuses on enhancing game stability and addressing a significant, widely reported bug within the popular Universe Mode.
The most prominent fix included in Patch 1.09 targets Universe Mode specifically. The patch notes state it: “Addressed reported concerns about count out being enabled in match types where it shouldn’t be within Universe.” Many players had reported experiencing referees inexplicably initiating count-outs during matches where count-outs are typically disabled (such as No Disqualification matches or even Backstage Brawls), significantly disrupting the sandbox mode’s gameplay and realism. This fix aims to correct that unintended behavior.
Beyond the specific Universe Mode adjustment, the patch also includes general “Stability and Performance improvements,” a common feature of post-launch updates aimed at smoothing out the overall gameplay experience. Some community reports also noted minor potential additions like updated nameplates for certain superstars may have been included, although not listed in the brief official notes for 1.09 itself. This update continues the support for the game which launched successfully back in March 2025.
The release of Patch 1.09 also comes just ahead of the game’s first major downloadable content release. The “New Wave Pack,” the first of five planned DLC packs included in the Season Pass, is scheduled to launch on May 14, 2025. This pack will add recent WWE signings and NXT stars Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer to the roster, along with a currently unannounced special celebrity guest. The latest patch likely includes preparatory data for this upcoming content drop.
