Adam Cole has a big decision to make regarding his pro wrestling future – stay with WWE or see what he’s worth on the open market.
It was first reported by Wrestling Inc that Cole’s contract with WWE expires shortly after SummerSlam later this month. There had been rumors of him being under contract through 2024, but that was inaccurate. Instead, his original deal was up after the Great American Bash show but he signed an extension to keep him on board through August.
Pwinsider reported today that the realization of Cole’s deal expiring in a few weeks “took a number of WWE execs by surprise.” It was added that the timing of the company learning of Cole’s contract lines up with the termination of Canyon Ceman.
Cole has been feuding with Kyle O’Reilly for months and although WWE has yet to confirm it, all signs indicate that another match between these two stars will take place at the NXT TakeOver 36 special the night after SummerSlam.
Cole will likely have interest from all top promotions such as NJPW, ROH, Impact Wrestling, and AEW if he decides to leave WWE. The former WWE NXT Champion has been backstage at AEW shows in the past to visit his long-time girlfriend, Dr. Britt Baker.
