WWE Extreme Rules results: Bobby Lashley vs. Roman Reigns

Although there were reports saying that Bobby Lashley vs. Roman Reigns was slotted for the main event of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the match actually took place shortly before 9 pm eastern time. The announcers mentioned how Reigns was screwed out of the Universal Championship back in April at the Greatest Royal Rumble show and that one of these guys could be in line for a title opportunity. As noted earlier, Lesnar could be stripped of the title on Raw on Monday. Click here for more on that.

Fans turned on this match and chanted “Rusev Day” a few minutes after the match started. There was a scary spot with Lashley holding onto the top rope while Reigns had him up over his shoulder. Reigns dumped him over the ring and Lashley hit the ringside area hard on his side.

There were several near falls including Reigns kicking out after Lashley went for a pin after a vertical suplex. Reigns hit a Superman punch and went for the pin but Lashley barely kicked out. Lashley ran towards Lashley at ringside but he was caught and Lashley hit an overhead belly to belly suplex onto the announcer’s table. Lashley went for a top rope move but Reigns caught him with the Superman punch. Reigns set up for the spear but Lashley hit the spear instead. Lashley won.

After the match, Michael Cole said that Lashley has to be in the conversation as a contender for the Universal Championship.
