WWE has big plans for NXT star

WWE locked down Roderick Strong to a new contract ahead of his return to NXT TV.

The former NXT Tag Team Champion returned to TV a few weeks ago as part of The Diamond Mine that also features Tyler Rust, Hideki Suzuki, and Malcolm Bivens as their manager.

Fightful Select reports that Strong agreed to terms on a contract extension before the group debuted as well as before his wife Marina Shafir was released on June 25th due to budget cuts.

It was noted that Strong figures into NXT’s 2021 plans in a major way as the company has big plans to feature the cruiserweight division this year. The belief is more top names will be moved to the division and Strong is factored into those plans.

This lines up with what WWE is doing on TV as Strong is currently feuding with current Cruiserweight Champion Kushida

This comes at a time where WWE has released several wrestlers, but they’ve also signed wrestlers to new deals.
