WWE broke up The Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley, MVP, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin) in early 2021 despite finding success in the COVID-19 pandemic. Once Lashley and MVP were split up, the two stars publicly talked about their desire to get the group back together, as it was a Vince McMahon call to split them up.
The company, now under the creative leadership of Triple H, may get them back together but could do so by adding a new face.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there’s been talk within WWE regarding the idea of having Carmelo Hayes in the group, but even if the idea is approved and plans are put in place, it won’t likely happen until Hayes challenges Bron Breakker for the NXT Title on WrestleMania Goes Hollywood weekend this April at NXT Stand & Deliver.
Meltzer wrote, “It has been batted around the idea of Hayes in the Hurt Business with MVP, Benjamin, Alexander and Lashley. That was a discussion and not definite. But there has been talk of Hayes coming to the main roster.”
At the end of NXT Vengeance Day, Hayes came out to the stage after Breakker beat Grayson Waller in a cage match, indicating the future feud. It was also teased this week on NXT.
